home pod
Multi-component design updates were required to accommodate the addition of a mount. I contributed to design changes across the top module, cosmetic cover, and steel plate, with all work completed in NX.

cosmetic cover
The cosmetic surface of the pod was designed to preserve the existing pentagonal hole pattern, with all modifications aligned to this geometry and terminating in a slightly off center hole. The interface was precisely dimensioned to achieve a friction fit with the mount, and a chamfered edge was added to improve alignment and provide a smoother, more intuitive connection during assembly.
top module
The top module houses several components, including the steel plate to which the magnet connects to. A level surface was integrated, using component housings as locating features. Draft angles and uniform thickness were integrated to optimize for injection molding.
steel plate
The steel plate was CNC-cut from stainless steel, with thickness optimized to provide a strong magnetic connection while minimizing mass. An M3 threaded mounting hole and an adhesive bonding surface were incorporated to securely retain the plate in place

conceptual designs
Multiple concepts were considered before finalizing with a central magnetic design
